Hey there! Welcome to my first film review where I will be sharing my thoughts on the latest film by Marvel. I will split this into two sections to protect some of the secrets to those who still haven't seen Captain Marvel yet. Captain Marvel is the MCU's first movie with a female lead (about time). I went and watched the movie twice in theaters, and I can't wait to share my thoughts with you!

Non-spoiler

To start off, I will rate the movie 3.5/5 stars. I love Captain Marvel. I'm glad that Marvel took the step to create a movie that brings representation for women. Carol Danvers is serious, funny, not too perfect, loyal, good-hearted, independent, tough, and strong. The movies is set right before the creation of the Avengers and brings in a lot of aspects of the MCU that we’ve seen before. It's just fun watching everything that you know from the previous movies come about again. It's like an origin story for them, too. The movie has twists and turns. The comedy is on point. The only thing I wish it had was a bigger plot. One thing that is with trend with some origin stories is that they may lack action sequences or fighting scenes, but I really love the scenes where Captain Marvel is just being herself. I also really like Captain Marvel and Nick Fury as a team. I really do recommend this movie for everyone and anyone. It's a great story about a hero who finds power within herself. It is one of those stories that we need more of.

PLEASE STOP HERE IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS <3 (feel free to comeback for the spoilers section after you've watched the film -Katelyn Cao)

Spoiler

I really hope you read the first section, because it gives a general overview of my thoughts of the movie, and this section is for the little details I noticed or the moments which had me thinking that I just wanted to share with you.

I think I found a new favorite character, Goose the flerken. I really love Jude Law, and I wanted him to be on the good side, but I guess being the the main villian is second-best. The Tesseract is the main target, and it seems that in the Marvel movies, most plots surround the blue cube. I was left thinking about how exactly it got there since it was last seen before in the timeline, in Captain America: The First Avenger. Captain Marvel is referred to as Carol Danvers or just Vers. They do mention the word "marvel" after Fury pronounces Mar-vell's name wrong, but we do not get a clear indication that she has chosen that name yet for herself. We see that Fury actually loses his eye to a cat (or flerken). Ronan the Accuser makes an appearance. We also get a heart warming scene with Brie Larson and Stan Lee in one of his last cameos. The title sequence is also heart-warming where the Avengers are replaced with Stan Lee's characters. For the final part, I must talk about the end credits scene, and I’m not talking about the one with Goose. The end credits scene shows the pager that we see in both Avengers: Infinity War and Captain Marvel. It was said to be used in only extreme cases of emergencies, but I find it strange that it was never used in the many times where the Earth almost ended, but this seemed like the perfect time I guess. I also find it strange that the Avengers are not too aware of the most powerful hero in the universe, Captain Marvel. I would think Fury would have at least mentioned her once, but who cares when she's confirmed for another appearance in Avengers: Endgame! I can’t wait to see how Captain Marvel interacts with the other Avengers.

I hope you enjoyed my take on the movie! How was your experience?
