Hey there! Last week I mentioned that I was seeing the hit musical, Hamilton, on my birthday, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. I've been a fan since I was in eight grade. It was an odd but fantastic experience finally putting visuals to the songs that I’ve heard for so long. I got to see it in New Orleans with my friend Hannah, who I first bonded with, in eight grade, over our love of the musical. It was literally the best and most surreal birthday yet!

To anyone who does not know what Hamilton is, it is hip hop musical based on the life of the Alexander Hamilton. Although through explanation, it may sound like a horrible spectacle, I would recommend everyone to at least hear the first song of the show to get a sense that it is actually a masterpiece.

I went to see Hamilton on a field trip with my theatre class. When we arrived to the Saenger Theatre after dinner, Hannah and I took photos, bought merchandise, and waited eagerly until 7:00 when we would be allowed to take our seats. When I walked into the house, I couldn't help but think that this was the most beautiful theatre I've ever seen! The ceiling is blue with twinkling lights that look like gleaming stars. There were pillars and columns, statues of Greek Gods, and beautiful carvings on the walls. Just sitting there took you breathe away.

Once the show begin at 7:30, my eyes were glued to the stage. It was different, in a good way, from my expectations. The performers and ensemble were awesome. You just have to see it in person. It is ten times more funny, especially when you get to see them joke around on stage.

The Schuyler Sisters were definitely amazing. My favorite scenes were with the hilarious King George, Lafayette and Mulligan, and Madison and Jefferson. My favorite songs performed live were "My Shot," "Satisfied,""History Has Its Eyes on You," "Battle of Yorktown, and "The Reynolds Pamphlet." Others include all of King George's songs because of the comedic aspect and the most emotional to me "Dear Theodosia,""Burn," and "It's Quiet Uptown."

If you do go see any musicals, I recommend waiting by the stage door afterwards. You may have the opportunity to meet the cast. I was so lucky that our bus was parked right next to the door. We got autographs and even some photos with them. They were so kind and generous. I really hope to come to this show again! Best Birthday Ever!
